The Concrete Conductive Reinforcement Earthing Electrode 'Rio Socket' (CCREE RS4S-25x12-2) is a socket that is to be fitted to the concrete conductive reinforcement within the room, as AS/NZS 3000:2007 requires the reinforcement within the room to the bonded. A sheet of reinforcement extends underneath the shower base (or other location where moisture may be present) as per manufacturer’s installation instructions. The majority of electrical shock incidents occur in the shower, so it’s important to protect the enclosure as much as possible.

As AS/NZS 3000:2007 requires the reinforcement within the room to the bonded, the location under the shower base (or anywhere else that moisture may be present due to structural deterioration) is the preferred location according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Most electric shocks occur in the shower, so this is the most common place to install this product.

The Concrete Conductive Reinforcement Earthing Electrode Edge Bar (CCREE EB1-500-G) is an electrode that is to be fitted to the concrete conductive reinforcement within the room. As AS/NZS 3000:2007 requires the reinforcement within the room to the bonded, if the shower base is situated at the slab’s edge by an external wall, the location at the slab’s edge beneath the shower base can be selected. This location is where moisture could be present within the bathroom or shower room due to deterioration of the structure over time. This is the preferred location according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions, as it is within the shower, where many electric shock incidents occur.

The Loop Tie Twist-n-Snip Applicator is the tool to use to achieve a quick and tight tying method that snips the tails of the tie on a tensioned twist.

Operated by hand, the long rubber handle offers a secure grip. The twist tie is placed around the reinforcement and electrode with the two loops brought together. Place the hook of the tool through the two loops, then pull on the tool away from the twist tie. When the tool has reached its fully extended length, allow the tool to retract back toward the twist tie. Repeat this action until the twist tie snips its tails off from itself.

For a more professional and integral approach to your wiring, wherever you connect the equipotential bonding conductor into the installation wiring, you should label the point of connection to avoid inadvertent disconnection by other workers during future possible works, renovations or maintenance. Without appropriate identification, confusion about an additional earthing conductor at any given point within the installation is not uncommon.

ECV has developed printed heat shrink tubing lengths to alleviate this confusion when applied at the connection of the equipotential bonding conductor into the installation.

50mm long and yellow in colour, it can slide over a 6mm diameter conductor and be heat shrunk to grip down to 2.6mm diameter conductors.

'The location of the earth electrode shall be identified at the main switchboard.'

The general requirement of this clause is for the connection of the electrical installation earthing system to the general mass of earth, which shall be achieved by means of an earth electrode. This clause is not related to the location of the CCREE series of electrodes and edge bars.

In December 2012, the Australian/New Zealand Standard committee EL-001 released the second Amendment to AS/NZS 3000:2007 known as the Wiring Rules.

Throughout the eight months prior, Electrical Compliance Victoria in collaboration with Repelec created this Down Light Warning Sign as required under the Standard's new Clause 4.5.2.3.2 Warning Sign, which requires the installation of a warning sign:

‘Where recessed luminaires are installed in an accessible roof space, a permanent and legible warning sign shall be installed in the roof space adjacent to the access panel, in a position that is visible to a person entering the space.
